Most young Africans graduate with a degree and not much else. No practical skills employers actually want, no confidence, no real sense of how to turn what they studied into a job. The Goodwill Fellowship was built to fix that specific problem.

What the Fellowship actually is

It's Impact Axis's flagship program: a cohort-based, hands-on experience where you're given real challenges, real feedback, and the chance to mess up and try again. No lectures about theory. You build the judgment and confidence that only come from doing the work, not reading about it.

What you walk away with

You'll pick up practical skills in digital literacy, communication, and problem-solving. You'll learn how to actually show up online and offline instead of hiding behind a CV. You'll get mentors and a network of peers who are figuring out the same things you are. And, probably the biggest one, you'll leave with a clearer sense of direction than you started with.

Akem Aurelia, a Fellow from a past cohort, put it better than we could:

"The fellowship changed that. It helped me develop practical skills, confidence, and a stronger sense of direction... Employability is not just about getting a job, but about using your skills to create value wherever you are."

Who this is for

Recent graduates. Students about to finish. Early-career people who know something's missing between what they learned and what the job market wants. If that's you, keep reading.

Why this matters

Nearly half of African youth work in jobs that don't match their skills. That's not because young people aren't trying hard enough. It's a systems problem, and it needs a systems response. The Goodwill Fellowship is one piece of how Impact Axis is trying to rebuild how talent gets developed and connected across African economies.
